Since the start of our Spiral Wishing Well project in May 2008 we have learned of many varied ways and places of using the Wells for fundraising and making people more aware of Rotary and the work we do.
Five of our wells have been permanently in position at local sites to our club. We have three in a holiday park (one in their reception, one in their shop and one in an amusement arcade) and our other two wells are positioned in a Family Adveture Parks. In total to date through these wells we have raised £6,019 all in small change!
We have already heard that there is one in Guernsey airport – looks like the money is starting to ‘fly’ in now!!
During the close down of the holiday camp from November to March the Wells were taken out and used for other fund raising events around the Christmas time.
From other Rotary Clubs that are using the Wells we have found the most success comes on a daily basis from having the well permanently in place. The one day events are primarily for promoting Rotary and they are used as a fun attraction.
Some of the places we have heard that the wells have been placed:
Airport Terminals
Holiday Parks
Kite Festivals
Regattas
School Open Days
Local Pubs
Motorway Service Areas
Garden Centres
Shopping Malls
Retail Outlets
There are many more and we would like to hear from you where the most successful collecting points have been?

A Great idea from Adrian Murrey at The Rotary Club of Bala and Penllyn

Adrian and his club came up with the idea of using the well at the Welsh Eisteddfod in 2009. Please read the story attached of how we managed to deliver the Well from Exmouth to Bala.

An idea worth Considering?
Put a bottle of wine on the table as a prize
Set a time for a £1 coin to roll down the shute of say 25 seconds.
Then time each try when the person rolls their coin. If the coin stays up for 25 seconds or more then hand them the wine. If the coin drops earlier that goes to your Charity.
Try it and see – it certainly puts the FUN into Fundraising.
We would like to hear of any more ideas that have successfully been tried.
